Welcome

Become a part of the old Vanilla world. Set up your client according to our guide.

If you have any questions, read the FAQ first. In case you don’t find the answer, you can try asking on our IRC.

Most our services are to be found on the web page of the TwinStar project, under which Kronos belongs.

Account Manager

In order to play on Kronos, you need a game account created in the account manager.

Account manager also contains many useful features like the character auction or donate system. You can purchase Stars through the donate system, and for these Stars you can then buy special mounts, pets or tabards that cannot be obtained in-game.
You cannot buy any gear this way!
However, in our character auction you can spend your Stars on characters that were leveled up by Kronos players.

Forum

On our forum you can take part in numerous lively discussions, suggest improvements for the server or comment on what you don’t like.
There are also various videos from our players, guides, sections dedicated to both PVE and PVP and many others.

If you encounter a player violating server rules by misbehaving, abusing a bug etc., you can (and are obliged to) report him to the forum Blacklist.

If you want to become a part of the community you need to create a separate forum account. With this account you can also log in to our TwinHEAD database.

Armory

Kronos has its own Armory, where you can search for characters, guilds and various statistics like Honor ranking.

The armory contains a talent calculator.

TwinHead

It’s our gaming database, where you can find information concerning NPCs, quests, zones etc. It includes plenty of features: Bosskills, detailed statistics from every instance encounter, changelog and much more.

It is also a place where you are supposed to report bugs you find in-game (and only them!) – malfunctioning quests, NPCs, items, spells etc.

FAQ: Kronos III

We’re just a few days away from the grand opening of the highly anticipated Kronos III project. As we’re getting closer to release, let’s take a moment to answer some of the most asked questions that we have received in the last 4 weeks:

Q: Why choose to play Kronos III?

A: We’re a high-quality Vanilla private project with an experienced and dedicated staff committed to providing our community with great content and a great overall experience. What separates us from other similar projects is that we have a track record in longevity, so you know we’re not going to close our doors anytime soon. We also offer players who play on Kronos III the option to continue their character’s heroic journey into Burning Crusade after we’ve completed developmental work.

Q: At what day and time does Kronos III open?

A: The server will open around 14:00 server time (GMT+2) on March 31st. You can balance the server time with your own time by logging into Kronos I and type /time

Q: What should I expect on launch/launch week?

A: Mayhem, Chaos, plenty of players, and lots of fun! With the launch of any new project, there’s always a lot of curious players. This generally results in a high water mark of players. So when you get into the game, expect a lot of players and possibly a bit longer to make it out of the starting areas due to the sheer volume of players. It might be frustrating at first but just push through it. You won’t regret it!

Q: How do I connect to Kronos III?

A: The basics can be found here http://www.kronos-wow.com/how-to-connect/

In order to log in, you will need to change your realmlist. A realmlist is a file that changes the path where your client looks to log in. There are multiple realm lists that all work for Kronos III. Depending on where you’re located, you will experience different ms (latency) with each different realmlist, so it’s worth trying each one out to see where you have the smoothest connection.

set realmlist west.kronos-wow.com

set realmlist north.kronos-wow.com

set realmlist east.kronos-wow.com

If you still struggle with this, you can use the following as well:

Q: How will be the player limit handled on launch and in general?

A: The maximum number of online characters will be capped to ensure both stability and playability. At launch, this cap will be less than normal, and will gradually be increased over the span of 1 – 5 hours, at which point the “normal” cap will be achieved. The reason is to avoid overcrowding and gameplay issues by giving players some time to get to the second area of the starting zones before new players join into the initial starting area.

Q: Is there any way to bypass the login queue?

A: Not from the start. Once you have an account with a level 60 character, your account will bypass the queue (should there be one). In addition (and this applies regardless of level) players who are logged into the game and who disconnect will skip the queue for the next 2 minutes, allowing them to enter the game again immediately. The same will apply to players who have not yet logged in (players who are sitting in the queue screen) – if you were number 250 in the queue and you disconnect, then upon reconnecting you should return to your position in the queue (you will not start over at the back of the line).

Q: How can I reserve my character name(s)?

A: With your existing TwinStar account (or create a new account) you can log into our account manager https://manager.twinstar.cz/ and from here you can select to reserve your character or guild name. To reserve your name, it requires a €15 donation per character name or €20 for a guild name reserve.

Q: Can I transfer a character from Kronos I to Kronos III?

A: No, Kronos III is a completely fresh realm. If you want to play on Kronos III, you will need to join in on the fun by leveling up.

Q: I’ve already downloaded the vanilla client elsewhere, will it work for Kronos III?

A: Yes, it should. But remember to clear your WDB folder or you will run into weird issues due to the differences in programming from other projects.

Q: Is it possible to buy/trade characters on TwinStar like we could on Kronos I?

A: It was announced a few weeks ago that our plans are to remove all cash-shop features including character auctions. That is still the plan. It will not be possible to buy characters, mounts or anything else for Kronos III. The decision to disable these services are as a result of community feedback and is also something the Kronos team have wanted for a long time, although the decision was finally agreed to by TwinStar.

Q: How do you plan on funding the project?

A: Without our cash-shop and auction features, we will be reliant on donations from the community to fund the server.

Q: You think there will be enough donations to keep the server going? There’s no way this will work!

A: You could be right, it could be a fallacy. We’re well aware of it and are more than aware that it could fail. But in life, you don’t succeed if you don’t take chances. There is no success without failure.  We are very hopeful that our community will understand exactly how big of a leap of faith we’re putting into their hands by removing the store and services mentioned above. We hope that we can count on our community to help keep the project going without the need of these services. We want this to succeed, we want to be able to provide the community with what they want. But at the end of the day, it’s up to our community to help us keep going. If it comes to the point where not enough donations are coming in to help keep the project going, then a modified version of the shop & services may be brought back to help keep us going. This is a worse case scenario.

Q: How can I donate to help keep the project going?

A: Thank you for believing in us, and helping us continue to provide the community with something special. You can log into your Twinstar account here http://www.twinstar.cz, then proceed to the “Donate Help” link inside the Donate section (on the right-hand side). Then click on the Paypal or Donation button.

Q: What quality of life features does Kronos offer?

A: We provide the following features:

  • 5g max respec costs
  • Enter queue for Battlegrounds from anywhere (using commands .join wsg, .join ab etc..)
  • Realistic Line of Sight (ex; can’t shoot through trees)

Q: Will Kronos III have dynamic respawns?

A: Yes, on launch we will have dynamic respawns. However, even with hundreds of players in a small zone, do not expect instantaneous respawns of NPCs or quest items.

Q: What are the specifics regarding the announced group-experience bonus?

A: “Party bonus” experience is not in itself a new concept, it is part of the blizzlike design. We’ve simply increased the bonuses by 30% and made the feature include 2-man groups.

Q: I’ve read that Kronos is blizzlike and also that it is undertuned. What’s the confusion about?

A: Several projects have intentionally increased the difficulty of raids beyond the “blizzlike” settings such as increasing the health, damage or armor of monsters (particularly bosses). In comparison, Kronos may seem “undertuned” – when in fact we simply aim towards reproducing the raids as they were when originally released. That being said, we do restrict the usage of world buffs the first month with each new raid release (only the newest instance will have this restriction imposed on it, so for example when Ahn’Qiraj opens you can still use the world buffs in Blackwing Lair).

Q: Is there any place I can see when the gated items become available?

A: There will not be any full list posted anywhere. Instead, with each new patch, we will announce the new content that shall become available with that patch. That being said, we can answer some of the most asked questions regarding the gated content. For reference, see our timeline here: http://www.kronos-wow.com/2018/01/28/kronos-iii-timeline-and-itemization/

  • Maraudon will be available for release.
  • Paladin and Warlock epic-mount quests will not become available until the Elemental Invasion.
  • Jintha’Alor quests (Rune of the Guard Captain) will not be available until Alterac Valley.
  • Thorium Point in Searing Gorge will not provide any quests until Alterac Valley.
  • Spellweaver’s Turban, Diana’s Pearl Necklace, Heart of Wyrmthalak and many more similar items will not drop until the Dungeon 2 patch.
  • The Sunken Temple class-quests (level 50) will become available at the same time as Zul’Gurub is released.
  • Titanic Leggings recipe will not drop before Ahn’Qiraj has opened.
  • Relic/Idol/Totem items for Paladins, Druids, and Shamans will not drop before Ahn’Qiraj has opened.
  • Only a limited number of nature resistance recipes are available until 2 months after Ahn’Qiraj has opened.

Many many more quests, items, NPC’s and other content will be gated. If there are any specific things you are curious about, then try to look the item up on wowwiki.com. Usually, it is stated which patch the item was introduced to the game. If nothing is stated it generally means it was available from the release.

Q: Where can I get myself up to date on news and announcements?

A: Usually, our Discord is where news gets announced first. If the announcement is significant, it will be posted on the front page of our website at http://www.kronos-wow.com/ as well.

Usually, whenever news posts are posted on the Kronos site, a link for discussion will also take you to the forum, where you can give feedback and have a conversation on a more “permanent” board than the discord chat which has a quite a fast flow of conversation.

Q: What level does a warlock need to be to summon a level 60 character on Kronos III?

A: We do not have any plans to remove the 15-level limitation currently in place on Kronos. Warlocks on Kronos III will likewise only be able to summon characters who are less than 15 levels above them. A warlock will need to be level 45 or higher to summon a level 60 character on Kronos III.

Q: Are the “pathing issues” going to be fixed on Kronos III?

A: The major rework of the pathing have been applied to the Kronos PTR since 9th of March, and was applied to Kronos I on March 26th. There are 2 minor bugs remaining that we are aware of, both related to hunter/warlock pets finding paths while on moving objects; boats/zeppelins and elevators/lifts respectively. But overall the new pathing scripts are so far superior to the previous scripts that we’ve decided to implement it despite these issues. We hope to have those 2 remaining issues fixed soon, but it will not be before the Kronos III release.

Q: What is the view distance on Kronos III?

A: Kronos III will have blizzlike view distance from the beginning.

Q: Will /who show the correct online player numbers?

A: On Kronos, we do not show the total population numbers publically (“Blizzlike”).
Our /who command has been modified and will show a maximum of 50 players in any search.
After a few searches, user entered filters are ignored and the search results show random players from random areas, which also prevents the Census addon from acquiring correct population numbers.

Q: I cannot connect / My account is banned / I disconnected?

A: If you encounter this kind of problems please join our discord server and contact us in the #support channel. Just tag the Game Masters and state your problem directly, BUT DO NOT post your account name or email or any account information publically. Also, there is no need to create subreddit or forum threads for this. And Discord is the quickest way to get help.
